Apple Pie

Equipment Needed

1 mixing bowl
large spoons
fork
knife
peeler

Ingredients

6 big, tart apples (baking apples)
˝ cup sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1˝ tablespoons flour
2 defrosted, ready-made pie shells

Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
2. Peel the apples and take out the core (center).
3. Cut the apples in small pieces and put in a mixing bowl.
4. Add sugar, cinnamon and flour to the apples and mix.
5. Fill one of the pie shells with the mixture.
6. Take the other pie shell out of it's tin and put it on top of the mixture.
7. Close the edges by using the fork to press the 2 crusts together.
8. Poke a few holes in the top of the pie with the fork.
9. Bake the pie for one hour or until the crust is light brown.
10. The sign of a good baker is to clean up, so don't forget!

I got this recipe when I was a Brownie Girl Scout. We made it for dessert for Thanksgiving dinner and everyone liked it. You can change the fruit to peaches or berries, just leave out the cinnamon. Thanks to Girl Scouts for teaching me how to make apple pie!

Beef/Mushroom Rice

Equipment Needed

1 2-quart casserole dish
measuring cup
measuring spoons

Ingredients

1 cup uncooked rice
1 can of beef broth
1 can of consommé
2 teaspoons minced garlic
1 tablespoon parsley
2 tablespoons butter or magarine
1 can mushrooms, stems & pieces or fancy
You can use either the small or large can.

Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
2. Mix all ingredients into the casserole dish.
3. Put in the oven, covered, for 1 hour.
4. Take the cover off and cook for 10-15 minutes more.

My grandmother taught me how to make this. She passed away a few years ago, but I'm glad she taught me how to make it. I do it every year in her memory. It's also my favorite dish!
